Foot valves maintain a pump’s priming, preventing the pump from burning out. They are a type of check valve used at the end of the suction line of a pump. Foot-valves and suction inlet strainers The one-way foot valve aids in priming the pump. Strainer functions as a basic filter, preventing rust or debris from entering the tank and safeguarding the pump’s internals.

When attached to the foot or end of the suction pipe of a pump set, foot-valves are used to prevent reverse flow and maintain prime within the pump.

The footvalve’s primary components are the body, flap, seat, and strainer.

The swing flap freely pivots on its hinge blocks. Its movement is restricted by stops to prevent damage to the valve’s inner walls.

The flap is equipped with a resilient EPDM seal for dependable service, and the flap assembly is self-leveling to accommodate wear within the seal.

The valve is equipped with a quick-release lever that can be activated remotely via cable to release the water contained within the valve.

A Suction Strainers basic function is to provide a filter at the base of the suction pipe to prevent ingress into the suction line. There are varied forms of Suction Strainers and Foot valves. The predominant difference is the material the unit is manufactured out of. Depending on site specifics there are Poly Footvalves, HDPE Footvalves, Stainless Steel Foot valves, Galvanised Foot-valves, Flanged Foot Valves or footvalves with an incorporated hose tail or skid.
