How does a Lamella Clarifier work?
Lamella Clarifier is an advanced sedimentation tank that utilises:
- Inclined Plates: To separate solid particles from liquid. These plates are arranged to increase the unit’s effective settling area.
- Conical Sludge Hopper: To allow accumulation of settled solids.
Lamella Plate Clarifier works on the principle of gravity separation. Our clarifiers can handle feed water in a variety of conditions with a high concentration of suspended solids. Separation outcomes will vary depending on the quality of the feed water and the pollutants present.
- The feed water enters the lamella clarifier from the top inlet channel and flows to the separator’s bottom.
- The water is led back to the top, passing through the lamellas along the way, where the solid particles settle.
- Treated water rises to the top and passes through a weir to reach the outlet.
- The sludge is collected in the sludge funnel as it slides down the lamellas.
To prevent sludge caking in the conical hopper, a rabble rake can be fitted. At regular periods, the sludge is exported.
