Range Of Wash Bays
Washdown and cleaning of equipment is an expansive area with a number of “ways” to washdown equipment. From portable Wash Bays to fixed wash bay systems to highly portable and versatile trailed washdown pressure washer equipment there are a number of options dependent on the requirement and specific function of any given site.
In an underground mining environment or highly salty ground conditions of a mining area, often site requirements are such that each vehicle is washed post use to prevent corrosion. This is often undertaken in Vehicle wash bays or if there is a particular case of acidic or salt build up on the underside of the vehicle, light vehicle wash down ramps are used to allow the operator to gain access to the underside to facilitate proper cleaning. Other wash down systems are predominantly used for environmental reasons such as weed control or containing mud and soil, stop seed or noxious weed migration and remove contaminants such as coal, grain, oil, grease , fertiliser or metals and to prevent airborne dust. These systems are known as Truck Wheel Wash Systems or a Heavy Duty Wheel Wash System. Truck Wheel Wash Systems can be a permanent wheel wash system or a temporary set up, allowing the system to be moved from site to site.

Trailed Wash Down units or pressure washer trailers are often used for cleaning heavy vehicles prior to undertaking maintenance activities and are used to remove Grime, oil & grease build-up to allow personnel to access the affected area safely and efficiently. These units are mostly used where the machine cannot be moved or where works need to be undertaken in the field. High-Pressure Cleaner Trailers are the most universal system for the washdown of equipment as they can be transported anywhere and are completely self-contained units including water.
When washing down is required more regularly, it is common practice for large wash bays to be set up as a permanent structure, these wash bays normally include wash-down walkway systems, hand-held pressure cleaners or washdown hoses. Heavy Vehicle Wash Bays can also be fully automated to allow operator safety and efficiency.
